Strengthening Women imply Strengthening the Nation
In Africa — and especially in Gabon — women are the heartbeat of our communities. They are
mothers, leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Across villages, towns, and cities, women are
working tirelessly in markets, on farms, and in homes — often without formal recognition or
adequate support. It is time to change that.

Africa’s Women: A Force in Entrepreneurship

Africa has one of the highest rates of female entrepreneurial activity in the world. Women are
leading the way in trade, agriculture, and services. In Gabon, countless women run small
businesses, farms, and family enterprises — creating jobs, feeding communities, and driving the
economy forward. Yet, too many are still working in the informal sector, with limited access to
resources or protections.

Building Support Systems for Women

To unlock the full potential of our women, we must provide the support they deserve. That is why
new national initiatives are focusing on:
• Access to Microfinance and Credit: Women are being given access to financial tools that
allow them to invest in their businesses, build savings, and grow with confidence.
• Education and Skills Training: Programs are being rolled out to empower women and girls
with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive — whether in entrepreneurship, leadership,
or new industries.
• Healthcare and Childcare Services: A strong nation begins with healthy mothers and
children. Ensuring accessible health services and childcare support allows women to balance
work and family, and participate fully in the economy.

Women in Agriculture and Commerce

In Gabon and across the continent, women are deeply engaged in agriculture and commerce. From
managing farms to selling goods in local markets, they are sustaining entire communities. New
measures are supporting women-led innovation in these sectors — giving them tools to modernize
production, improve efficiency, and reach new markets.
Inclusive financing solutions, tailored to the realities of small-scale merchants and women in the
informal economy, are being introduced to simplify transactions, ensure security, and open the
door to the formal digital economy. These tools help women move from hand-to-hand trade to
mobile payments and digital wallets, connecting them to wider networks of opportunity.

From Recognition to Leadership

Beyond economic activity, women are also being recognized as leaders and decision-makers. The
government is committed to promoting gender equality at every level — from community
leadership to national policy. When women rise, society rises with them.
A strong nation needs strong women. By recognizing their efforts, removing barriers, and creating
opportunities, Gabon is not just supporting women — it is unleashing the full potential of the
country.
